With Maurizio Sarri on the brink of a reunion with former Napoli player Gonzalo Higuain, there are reports from the Mirror linking Chelsea to another player who Higuain managed at Napoli, Elseid Hysaj.
Reports from The Mirror claim that Chelsea are interested in signing Hysaj on loan from Napoli. However, the Serie A club wants to sell Hysaj.
The Albanian full-back played under Maurizio Sarri under Empoli before Sarri brought him to Napoli. Hysaj hasn’t been a regular under Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti lately. In the Gli Azzurri’s last 5 Serie A matches, Hysaj has started just one match against SPAL and appeared for two minutes against Lazio on Sunday.
Chelsea have shown interest in Hysaj for a while. Hysaj’s agent Mario Giuffredi said that Chelsea were among the few clubs interested in signing him.
Stalwart Cesar Azpilicueta is Chelsea’s first-choice right-back and the club has only one back-up to Cesar, Davide Zappacosta. There were reports linking Zappacosta to a move to Lazio. Fearing that they might lose Zappacosta, Chelsea are eager to sign Hysaj as a back-up to Cesar.
Provided Chelsea do manage to sign Hysaj, it will be a huge delight for Maurizio Sarri as he will have another player who is well-acquainted to his playing style.
