Chelsea legend Ashley Cole said that Mason Mount has what it takes to become a world class player.

The 20-year old scored his first Chelsea goal in yesterday’s clash against Leicester City at Stamford Bridge. However, the Blues looked a little exhausted in the second half as the Foxes got their equaliser, thus stopping Chelsea from registering their first win of the season.

Cole was all praise for 20-year-old Mount who had an overall impressive match. As quoted by the Daily Mail, the former England international told Sky Sports: “Mount is very mature for his age. He’s got a good head on his shoulders and he wants to improve all the time and he will do because he’s willing to listen.

He can play anywhere in the midfield, right, left, holding because his range of passing is so good. He needs to know when to slow the game down, everything doesn’t have to be 100mph. He can potentially be world class but he obviously has a lot to learn.”

Mount had an impressive 18/19 season during his loan spell at Derby County under Frank Lampard. The midfielder scored 11 goals and provided 6 assists in 44 appearances under all competitions.

This season, Mount is bound to receive many first-team opportunities by Lampard which might help him find a place in England’s squad for Euro 2020.

Chelsea will aim to get their first win of the season this weekend when they play Norwich City at Carrow Road.
