Chelsea legend blasts struggling Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku was disrespectful towards Chelsea in his interview last year.

The Belgian striker made a return to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2021 in a club-record £97.5million deal from Inter Milan.

Many expected him to continue his hot streak at Chelsea but he scored only five goals in 26 games across all competitions.

Back in December, the striker expressed his discontent at Chelsea because of manager Thomas Tuchel’s tactics.

Former Chelsea player Eidur Gudjohnsen believes the striker was publicly disrespectful towards the West London club.

He told Metro: “I found it very strange — initially I thought ‘this can’t be right’, but he [Lukaku] had actually given the interview and said these things.

“I thought it was on the verge of being disrespectful. You see it and think, ‘why would he want to jeopardise everything?’.

“People have only seen what he can do in glimpses this season, but on his day, he can be a man against boys with his physicality.

“I did think he would be perfect for Chelsea. Now it’s up to Tuchel to find how he fits into the team. He needs to feel important in the role he has.”
