Chelsea legend believes Ziyech would thrive at Barcelona

Ruud Gullit believes Hakim Ziyech will ‘fit well’ at Barcelona.

The Moroccan winger joined the Blues in the summer of 2020 and won the Champions League in his debut season at Stamford Bridge.

However, the winger has struggled for game time under former manager Thomas Tuchel and is also playing a bit part-role under new manager Graham Potter.

The 29-year-old has started only three out of 18 Premier League games this season and is under contract with the Blues until the summer of 2025.

Given his disappointing spell at the West London club, club legend Ruud Gullit has urged the talented winger to make a move to the Camp Nou.

Gullit said: ‘The way Ziyech plays for Morocco, I’ve never seen him play for Chelsea. It’s not just him.

‘I think Chelsea have put him in positions that don’t suit him at times. He just needs to play on that right side.

‘I wonder… I think he comes into his own in Spain, I think. I have the impression that he has never reached the level of Ajax in England.

‘I would like to see him in Spain. He can reach the top. He would also fit well in the Barcelona team.’

Ziyech has also been linked with a return to his former club Ajax but manager Alfred Schreuder has ruled out any such proposition.
