Manchester United Happy To Listen To Chelsea Offer For Sergio Romero

Should Kobbie Mainoo decide not to extend his contract at Old Trafford, Chelsea is reportedly in the lead to sign the Manchester United midfielder. Shortly before making his Premier League debut, 19-year-old Mainoo signed a four-year contract in 2023. With a weekly wage of £20,000, he is reportedly the lowest-paid player in the senior squad. Although United wants to sign him to a contract extension and acknowledge the midfielder as a vital member of the first squad, talks over new terms have not moved quickly, and there are now rising questions regarding Mainoo’s long-term future at United.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea has put themselves at the top of the list to recruit Mainoo because they believe the adolescent has the potential to become a star. David Ornstein of The Athletic recently contended that the pure profit that might be made by selling an academy graduate like Mai disproved the prior idea that Mainoo belonged to a select group of players who United considered “untouchable.”

Chelsea leading the chase for Kobbie Mainoo

Wheeler of the Daily Mail revealed in a shocking claim that Chelsea is in the lead to capture Mainoo should he decide to leave United. Since Mainoo often plays for United, it would be shocking if he were to leave his boyhood club; however, it is currently unknown.

Wheeler has also revealed that Mainoo and United are at a standstill over a new contract, which might raise questions about his future. United fans will be disappointed by the news, but they will be hoping it will force the team to sign a new contract as quickly as possible. There isn’t a big rush for United to extend Mainoo’s contract because his current one is set to expire in 2027. As of right now, Manchester is not in danger of losing him on a free transfer, and any offer from Chelsea would probably be quickly turned down anyhow.
