IN MEMORIAM: Former Chelsea goalkeeper Peter Bonetti dies

Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is reportedly contemplating a summer departure from Stamford Bridge after growing frustrated with his backup role at the club.

Filip Jorgensen Unhappy at Chelsea, Considers Exit After Just One Year

The 23-year-old, who joined from Villarreal just last summer, has become unsettled due to limited playing time behind first-choice keeper Robert Sanchez.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Jorgensen is unhappy as Chelsea’s number two and is now weighing his options.

Though he has not formally requested a transfer, the Danish shot-stopper is uncertain about his future with the Blues.

The club has previously allowed players to leave if they express a desire to move, raising the possibility of an exit before the transfer window closes on September 1.

Jorgensen arrived in July 2024 as part of manager Enzo Maresca’s squad overhaul. Despite a promising start including 10 clean sheets in 24 appearances he eventually lost his place as the Premier League starter.

His standout performances in the Conference League, where he helped Chelsea lift the trophy and earned a spot in the Team of the Tournament, were not enough to secure a permanent role in the first team.

While Chelsea still believe in Jorgensen’s potential, his lack of consistent minutes has left him questioning his long-term prospects.

At just 23, he remains a developing goalkeeper, but his ambition may push him to seek regular playing time elsewhere.

For now, the Blues hope he stays and fights for his place, but with the transfer window still open, Jorgensen could decide to pursue a fresh challenge.

His next move will depend on whether he is willing to remain patient or push for an immediate departure.
