Chelsea is reportedly positioning itself to make a serious move for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Chelsea eyes Viktor Gyokeres as Key Summer transfer target in €70M deal
The Swedish international, whose performance for Sporting has drawn widespread attention, has become a key target for Chelsea as they seek to bolster their attacking options.
Although Gyokeres’ release clause is set at a formidable €100 million, reports from Sky Germany indicate that he may be available for a significantly reduced fee of €60-70 million due to an arrangement allowing him to depart in 2025.
Chelsea has been exploring striker options for a while, with Victor Osimhen previously linked to a move. However, with Osimhen ruling out a transfer until summer, the focus has now shifted back to Gyokeres.
Known for his powerful runs, goal-scoring consistency, and versatility, Gyokeres would offer a fresh dynamic to Chelsea’s front line, potentially complementing Nicolas Jackson, who has shown flashes of brilliance this season.
Several Premier League rivals, including Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City, are also keeping close tabs on Gyokeres, setting up a potential bidding war.
Despite interest from these clubs, Chelsea remains confident in its approach, recognizing that Gyokeres could be a game-changer under Mauricio Pochettino’s tactical setup.
While no move is planned for January, Gyokeres appears primed for a big switch come summer.
If Chelsea can secure his signature, they’ll not only be adding firepower but also bringing in a forward with the hunger and skill set that could reinvigorate their attacking ambitions.
