Laimer could potentially become the third signing from the Bundesliga club next summer.

According to German outlet Bild (h/t Sun), Chelsea have joined Liverpool in the race to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer in 2023.

Laimer’s contract will expire at the end of season 2022/23. He will be a free agent to make a move. The midfielder has no intention of extending his stay. It’s an opportunity for the Blues to grab him next summer.

Chelsea had signed Leipzig players earlier. They have already made a move to sign two Leipzig players – Christopher Nkunku and Josko Gvardiol. They have agreed to pay the money needed to get Nkunku and have agreed on a deal to sign him next summer. Even Gvardiol will also come to Stamford Bridge.

Laimer could potentially become the third signing from the Bundesliga club next summer. Liverpool and Bayern Munich also wanted to sign him this summer.

However, Chelsea could have a trick up their sleeves with former Leipzig director Christopher Vivell joining them as a technical director following his sack from the German club after his meeting with the Blues.

The Austrian international has been one of the finest midfielders in the Bundesliga for a couple of seasons now. He can play as a central midfielder, a defensive midfielder or as a right-back or right wing-back.

Chelsea needed him because Chelsea would lose Jorginho and N’Golo Kante for free next summer. They are in the same contractual situation as Laimer.
