Chelsea in talks with Stuttgart to sign 24-year-old Croatian left-back
According to sources, Chelsea has begun talks with Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart about a prospective trade for Borna Sosa.
Borna Sosa has impressed this season with his impactful performances at left back. The Croatian star’s squad is now fighting for survival in the relegation zone. But, with two goals and three assists in 18 games, the Zagreb native is experiencing a very different season.
Many top-tier teams would be willing to take a chance on the player’s abilities despite the fact that he is only 24 years old. Chelsea is one squad in serious need of reinforcements at this position.
Prior to the acquisition of Lucas Digne, Aston Villa attempted to sign Sosa.
Ben Chilwell, the Blues‘ first-choice left-back, has been ruled out for the rest of the season. With only Marcos Alonso as the position’s sole known star, Thomas Tuchel is seeking for reinforcements.
The Blues originally pursued Lucas Digne, but the trade never happened.
Stuttgart currently valued the Croatian star at £25 million, a figure Chelsea is struggling to reach.
With just over a week to the conclusion of the current transfer window, Chelsea must recruit a suitable replacement, or else the German manager will be unduly reliant on Alonso’s services, which has hazards.
Sosa’s versatility on the left wing makes him an appealing transfer target. At this stage, spending money appears to be a necessity rather than a pleasure.
