Chelsea interested in signing Robert Lewandowski

Chelsea are looking to reignite their interest in Bayern Munich striker, Robert Lewandowski despite a two-season transfer ban looming over their head.

The Mirror (via the Daily Mail) claims that the Polish forward’s representatives have been in contact with the Premier League outfit over a potential move this summer.

His future with the Bavarians has recently come under doubt since Bayern plan to revamp their squad with new talent after this season. Lewandowski is due to turn 31 in August and he still continues to pump out goals at a remarkable rate for the Germain outfit.

He reached his 200th Bundesliga goal in the 5-0 thrashing of Borussia Dortmund on Saturday night. The centre-forward now has 35 in 39 appearances this term.

Chelsea are in need of a scoring machine like him but his £70m price tag is expected to raise a few eyebrows. The Blues still have to overcome the more pressing issue of postponing the transfer ban by at least one window.

Gonzalo Higuain has not been the player that Chelsea fans would like him to be at £270,000-per-week. The Argentine has scored just 3 goals in 12 appearances for the Blues this term.

Lewandowski’s services are being pursued by rival outfit, Liverpool as well.
