Chelsea are reportedly interested in siging 21-year old Nicolo Barella from Serie A side Cagliari.

The young midfielder has been hailed by Pirlo “as one of the best players in Italy” and is on the radar of multiple English clubs including Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

The young central midfielder has a cool, calm head and is known for his excellent passing range and technical ability with the ball. He is a fantastic playmaker who can open up defences with his slick passing.

It is now being rumoured that Chelsea want to bring him in to replace Cesc Fabregas at Stamford Bridge. The Spaniard joined the Blues in 2014 and made an instant impact at the club.

He has been instrumental in both of Chelsea’s title winning seasons but with the arrival of Jorginho this summer, Fabregas has seen his role cut down. His significance has faded and the player is no longer a first team regular.

Should Sarri fail to convince Fabregas to stay, it is being reported that the Italian boss will look to bring in Barella. The Cagliari midfielder would cost around £40 million but being only 21 years old, he could be a prospect for the long-term for the Blues.
