Reports are emerging about Chelsea coming very close to signing Jadon Sancho out of Borussia Dortmund.
It was Manchester United and Liverpool who were thought to be favourites for the 19-year-old but the Blues have made big strides in this transfer chase.
Frank Lampard is obviously keen to make additions to this Chelsea squad now that the transfer ban has been lifted. Now, various news outlets are claiming that the Blues are inches away from wrapping up a £120m deal for Sancho.
Borussia Dortmund are a selling club, given how they let go of Ousmane Dembele when a bid of £119m flew in from Barcelona. They do consider Sancho a key part of their fluid attack line but there might be willing to budge on that sort of transfer fee.
BVB still believe they can win the Bundesliga title this season, despite falling 7 points behind the top after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Hoffenheim. Letting Sancho go midway through the season could prove to be a huge blow but Chelsea might be willing to loan the teenager back to Dortmund till the rest of the season. You know, they way they did with Christian Pulisic last term.
Of course, there is no doubt Sancho is a world-class rising talent but is signing him the best option for Chelsea right after they invested £57m on Christian Pulisic and haded Callum Hudson-Odoi a £150,000-per-week contract?
