According to reports from Tuttosport, Chelsea have begun talks with Rafael Benitez to replace Maurizio Sarri. Sarri is on the brink of leaving Chelsea to join Juventus. Max Allegri departed from Juve following the end of this season and the club want Sarri to become Juventus manager. Additionally, Sarri is eager to go to Juve due to family reasons. Chelsea are willing to let Sarri join Juventus provide the Serie A champs pay a £5 million compensation fee.

As per the report from Tuttosport, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants a replacement for Sarri to be ready by the time he departs for Turin. Several reports suggested that Frank Lampard would replace Sarri while other reports claimed Allegri would come to Chelsea. Even Watford manager Javi Gracia was on the shortlist to replace Sarri. Now, Chelsea are looking to Rafa Benitez to replace Sarri.

Benitez has had more than 25 years of managerial experience and has even coached Chelsea before. He became Chelsea’s interim manager following the sacking of Roberto di Matteo in November, 2012. Benitez led Chelsea to victory in the Europa League before quitting the club at the end of the season.

Benitez is now the manager of Newcastle United but his contract runs out this summer and he is yet to sign a new contract.

Maurizio Sarri replaced Rafa Benitez at Napoli and provided things go well, it could be the other way round at Chelsea.
