Chelsea In Talks With Barcelona To Reconsider Philippe Coutinho Deal

Chelsea have approached Barcelona into reconsidering their deal for Philippe Coutinho.

It has been widely accepted that Coutinho could head back to the Premier League this summer if all things go according to plan.

Chelsea are the front-runners in landing him but only at a heavy price. The Brazilian’s £142m switch to Camp Nou flopped very quickly, forcing him to move out and prove himself in Germany. Even though Bayern are fond of the 28-year-old, they are unwilling to pay his ridiculous £120m buy-back fee.

Barca have come to terms with Coutinho’s situation and are willing to take a huge loss on him. According to reports, the Catalan giants want to attach an obligatory €65m buy-back clause with his loan deal to Chelsea. Frank Lampard, on the other hand, is eager to sign Coutinho but might not be sure on paying such a high fee. Blues chief, Marina Granovskaia is trying to convince Barca into reconsidering.

Lampard already has brought in Hakim Ziyech from Ajax which means he is eager for more creativity in attack. Coutinho could slot in behind Tammy Abraham and dictate the team’s attack. He will also have sufficient support next to him through Christian Pulisic, Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
