Chelsea are reportedly engaging in advanced discussions to offload Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic—and Bournemouth may soon seal the deal for around £25 million.
Chelsea in Talks to Sell Djordje Petrovic for Just £25m as Bournemouth Lead the Race
TBR Football reports that the Cherries have reached an agreement with Petrovic on personal terms and are now negotiating a transfer fee with Chelsea, who want approximately £25 million—twice what they initially paid New England Revolution back in 2023.
Fabrizio Romano adds that Bournemouth submitted a formal bid today and that Petrovic is “keen” to join the south-coast side.
Sunderland made an early move, but the 25‑year‑old shot-stopper has expressed a strong preference for Bournemouth.
Multiple sources including Football Insider and All Football confirm that Chelsea have granted Petrovic permission to negotiate and have communicated their £25 million valuation to interested Premier League clubs.
Petrovic arrives at Bournemouth off the back of a stellar season on loan at RC Strasbourg. He recorded 10 clean sheets in 31 Ligue 1 appearances, helping Strasbourg secure a European spot.
His performances earned praise from manager Liam Rosenior, who described him as “world-class” during a standout performance in January.
For Chelsea, the potential sale is as much about squad balance as it is about profit: they signed Petrovic for around £14 million and now stand to make a healthy return.
With Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, and rising star Mike Penders in their ranks, the Blues feel confident they can rebuild their goalkeeper department even after losing Petrovic.
On a personal level, this move offers Petrovic clarity and control. He skipped training for Chelsea’s Club World Cup campaign to focus on a transfer, signaling his intent.
Bournemouth offer him the promise of a first-team spot and a stable platform to develop—elements he craves after impressing in France.
With personal terms in place and Bournemouth pushing ahead with an official bid, a deal could be confirmed imminently.
For Chelsea, it marks a tidy financial maneuver. For Petrovic, it’s a step closer to establishing himself as a No. 1 in the Premier League.
