Chelsea Ignore Transfer Ban And Place £62m Bid For Eden Hazard Replacement

Chelsea have tabled a £62m bid for Valencia forward, Goncalo Guedes despite facing a transfer ban for one whole year.

The Blues have reportedly made the offer through the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes. Eden Hazard’s sale has brought in an initial fee of around £89m which Chelsea are looking to reinvest in a replacement.

They are optimistic about getting the FIFA ban lifted as the Court Of Arbitration For Sport revealed only last week that an appeal has been posted by the South West London club.

Chelsea are desperate to add more strength to their attacking lineup after losing one of their most talented players ever. Guedes has impressed them with his 8 goals and 4 assists in 39 appearances this past season.

He is still only 22 years old and is highly versatile on the attacking front. He primarily appears on the pitch as a winger but he can play in the striker role as well.

Guedes was in action for Portugal this week and it was his winning goal that won his country the United Nations League trophy. The attacker found space in front of Holland’s goal and struck a powerful effort that was far too much for Cillissen to handle, ending up in the back of the net even after the goalkeeper getting a strong hand on it.

Guedes has showcased his talents since emerging from the Benfica ranks but he might not be worth the amount Chelsea are readying up for him.
