Chelsea have set their sights on landing Felix on an initial loan deal.

January’s transfer window is open now and Chelsea looks to boost their squad this month. The Blues were heavily linked with Joao Felix and the club have been holding internal discussions over whether to swoop for him after the Atletico Madrid player was offered to Chelsea, journalist Simon Phillips has told GiveMeSport.

Graham Potter will see his first transfer window and he wants to make the most out of it. Felix has scored 54 goals over the course of his senior club career, along with racking up an additional 29 assists.

According to the Telegraph, Chelsea have set their sights on landing Felix on an initial loan deal. This deal includes an option or obligation to seal a permanent switch at the end of the season.

The report also adds the capital club are keen to beat other suitors to the Portugal international’s arrival and, as a result, co-owner Todd Boehly is eager to get a deal tied up during the early stages of the winter window.

Reliable journalist Phillips recently updated to GiveMeSport that Chelsea have continued scouting Felix after he initially worked his way onto their radar during Roman Abramovich’s reign.

Phillips told GiveMeSport: “This has been discussed internally at Chelsea this week. In the last few days, Chelsea have been talking about doing this deal.

“Obviously, Felix’s agent has been offering him around to a number of different clubs, with Chelsea being one of them.”
