Chelsea have stepped up their summer transfer plans by initiating talks with Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, according to multiple reports.
Alejandro Garnacho keen on Chelsea switch as Blues open transfer talks
The 20-year-old, who has been a standout performer for United this season, is now on the radar of the Blues as they aim to bolster their attacking options under new manager Enzo Maresca.
With BlueCo determined to strengthen both the wings and striker position ahead of the 2025/26 season, Garnacho has emerged as one of their top targets.
BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella revealed that Chelsea had already held discussions with the Argentine’s representatives during the January transfer window, alongside early talks with Borussia Dortmund’s young winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.
The interest in Garnacho isn’t new. Chelsea made a late approach for the winger in January, and according to journalist Graeme Bailey, the player is “keen” on a move to Stamford Bridge.
“Chelsea are not set on one target and Garnacho is someone they like a lot… they know the player is keen on the move. And he is a huge talent,” Bailey told The Chelsea Chronicle.
Garnacho has enjoyed an impressive campaign, registering 11 goals and 10 assists across 56 appearances in all competitions.
His explosive pace, flair, and eye for goal have caught the attention of pundits and fans alike, with Rio Ferdinand even hailing him as the “real deal.”
Valued at around £70 million, Garnacho’s potential switch could depend on several moving parts — including Manchester United’s decision on Jadon Sancho’s future and Chelsea’s internal situation involving Mykhailo Mudryk, who faces a provisional ban.
As Chelsea aim to secure Champions League qualification with just two games left in the season, they are also preparing for the Club World Cup campaign, and want key signings completed early.
Whether Garnacho will wear blue next season remains to be seen, but the interest is very real — and growing.
