Chelsea appear to be closing in on a thrilling addition to their squad for the 2025/26 season — one who could soon light up Stamford Bridge with blistering pace.
Chelsea hold talks over signing striker faster than any Premier League player
The Blues are keen on strengthening their attack this summer, and while Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap has been widely reported as a key target, another name has now emerged in the frame: Emanuel Emegha.
Emegha, 22, currently plays for Strasbourg, Chelsea’s sister club, and discussions over a long-term contract are already underway, according to Foot Mercato.
With both clubs under the BlueCo umbrella, negotiating a deal could prove relatively straightforward — unless both sides qualify for the same European competition next season, which would complicate transfers between them.
Chelsea’s need for a new striker is clear. Nicolas Jackson has struggled with injuries and inconsistency this season, and the club is eager to bring in another No.9 to help share the goal-scoring burden. Emegha’s profile is certainly exciting.
For context, Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven holds the fastest top speed in the English top flight this season at 37.1 km/h, followed by Matheus Nunes (36.7 km/h), Bryan Mbeumo (36.6 km/h), Yankuba Minteh (36.4 km/h), and Anthony Elanga (36.2 km/h).
Emegha’s raw pace would immediately make him one of the most electric forwards in England.
But Chelsea’s interest goes beyond speed. With 14 goals under his belt this term, Emegha has shown he can deliver in front of goal — something Chelsea sorely need as they look to challenge on multiple fronts next season.
The club’s co-sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, are now weighing up whether to go all out for Emegha or Delap, but either way, Chelsea fans can expect an injection of youth, pace, and firepower up front this summer.
