Harvey Barnes, a promising winger for Newcastle, has received an offer from Chelsea. According to the most recent report from the Spanish publication Fichajes, the Blues and Manchester United are now vying for the Newcastle player’s signing. Both Chelsea and Manchester United have reportedly submitted offers for the attacker totalling £53 million.
Chelsea see Barnes as the perfect long-term signing to a club full of intriguing youth. According to reports, the Magpies do not want to sell Barnes until a more alluring offer is made, which is difficult for them to reject, despite the two Premier League teams’ substantial initial offer.
The report also claims that both Manchester United and Chelsea are willing to enhance the offer if Newcastle are to reject the present bid. They think that the athlete fits well into their playing styles and do not want to lose the opportunity. The report goes on to say that while the player is still focused on Newcastle, he welcomes the interest of these major clubs.
Chelsea reportedly submit £60m offer for Newcastle United player
Barnes’ performance in the Premier League has always been reliable. With four goals and an assist in his five Champions League outings thus far this season, he has elevated his game to a new level.
Barnes is undeniably one of the top wingers in the Premier League right now. Is he the kind of player who can elevate Chelsea, though?
It doesn’t seem so. Left wingers Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens are already on the roster. Both have had significant issues adjusting to life at Chelsea, but they have recently displayed a tremendous lot of talent. Pedro Neto has the ability to play there as well.
If Chelsea decides to hire someone for that role, it should be a top candidate like Vinicius Jr, who has the capacity to transform the Premier League. We might be wrong, but it does not feel like Barnes will accomplish that for the Blues.
