Following the release of the most recent information on their talks for the attacking midfielder from RB Leipzig, Fabrizio Romano announced that Chelsea is making significant strides towards winning the race for Xavi Simons.
When it became apparent that the Netherlands international was eager to consider his alternatives outside of the Bundesliga, the competition for Simons’ signature suddenly sprang to life. The playmaker has drawn interest from a number of Premier League sides, but Chelsea has been the most aggressive in their efforts to get him.
Around the beginning of June, TEAMtalk disclosed that Chelsea had contacted Simons’ agents and was prepared to formally approach his Leipzig employers.
Since then, things have gotten much more heated, with Chelsea now attempting to finalize the 22-year-old’s signing. Additionally, Romano claims in an update on his X account that Chelsea and Leipzig are now in advanced talks for Simons and that the talks are progressing well.
Chelsea and RB Leipzig remain in contact for Simons deal
Chelsea is still looking to add strikers, though, and it has been stated that they would want to have eight or nine attacking alternatives in their roster for the upcoming campaign. There is space for another attacker since Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku are anticipated to follow Noni Madueke out the exit door.
Simons, a 22-year-old Leipzig standout who can play both left and number 10, is the guy Chelsea has identified as their target. Simons and the Blues are almost at a personal agreement, and the Dutch international has stated that a move to the Premier League is what he wants.
According to reports, Chelsea would want to pay less than Leipzig’s asking price of roughly £60 million for Simons. Romano has now given an update. He informed his YouTube channel that Chelsea and RB Leipzig are still in contact, with separate talks for Carney Chukwuemeka and Xavi Simons.
