Chelsea secure signing of 17-year-old Brazilian wonderkid Pedro Lima

Chelsea have verbally agreed to sign 17-year-old Brazilian right-back Pedro Lima from Sport Recife, expanding to their inventory of young potential.

This transaction points out Chelsea’s ongoing policy of signing promising young South American players under Todd Boehly’s ownership.

Pedro Lima, who was promoted to Sport Recife’s first team at the beginning of the 2024 season, had an immediate impression. Lima has shown enormous potential since his debut in January.

Scouts were drawn to his efforts during the U17 World Cup in late 2023, where he played in all five matches for Brazil before the team was eliminated by Argentina.

Chelsea’s signing of Lima will be allowed by their associate club, Strasbourg. According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the deal includes a €7 million fixed fee and up to €3.5 million in potential add-ons. Lima’s agent is likely to travel to London shortly to finalize the arrangements.

Lima’s services to Sport Recife have been significant. After signing from Meninos da Paraiba, he was crucial in the team’s successful Campeonato Pernambucano campaign in 2024.

Chelsea’s dedication to youthful talent has seen them recruit Brazilian prospects such as Andrey Santos, Deivid Washington, and Angelo. These additions show the club’s dedication to developing future stars.

Looking ahead, Chelsea fans eagerly anticipate the arrival of another wonderkid, Kendry Paez, in 2025. Paez, who is excited to team up with Enzo Fernandez, symbolizes the vibrant future Chelsea aims to build with their young signings.

As Chelsea continues to invest in youth, the signing of Pedro Lima from Sport Recife represents another promising chapter in their quest for sustained success and talent development.
