Caleb Wiley, a left-back for the US national team, has officially joined Chelsea. With a six-year contract, the 19-year-old will leave Atlanta United to join Chelsea. Wiley is anticipated to sign a season-long loan with Ligue 1 team Strasbourg, which shares ownership with Chelsea through Blueco.
After progressing through Atlanta’s academy, Wiley joined the main team of the MLS organisation in 2022. In October of last year, he made his senior debut for the USMNT against Mexico. Chelsea sign USMNT left-back for reported £8.5m fee
For an estimated £8.5 million, Chelsea has finalized the signing of left-back Caleb Wiley of the US national team. With Omari Kellyman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, and Renato Veiga already entering this transfer window, the left-back is Chelsea’s sixth summer acquisition under new manager Enzo Maresca.
Along with Veiga and Guiu, Wiley is a good fit for Chelsea’s long-term contract plan for young players. Guiu signed a six-year contract at the age of eighteen, and Veiga signed a seven-year contract at the age of twenty. Wiley spent 2.5 years in Atlanta’s first squad, scoring 6 goals and dishing out 7 assists in 77 Major League Soccer games. This season, he has made 21 starts and has contributed 1 goal and 1 assist. He is currently in Paris as a member of the American football team participating in the Olympics.
