Chelsea is in the race for Germany’s new sensational forward Timo Werner.
The Blues alongside Liverpool and Bayern Munich are the top clubs in the chase for the German forward.
Up until recently, Werner had a clause in his RB Leipzig contract where he could have been bought if his release clause was paid. However, no team activated that and it now seemed financially beyond Liverpool who have other areas to address as well.
As for Bayern Munich, they were indeed the front runners as with all good players in the Bundesliga. However, Werner recently stated that he has no interest in joining the Bavarians.
In fact, if he wants a change in scenery or an upgrade on his team, he would work to leave the club and the league and probably go abroad.
This has put Chelsea firmly in the driver’s seat. The Blues desperately need a forward. Their current options are Tammy Abraham, Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi.
While Abraham’s rise has been prominent, Michy has misfired yet again and Giroud despite being decent is getting old and does not fir Lampard’s plan in the long haul.
So we can assume it is pretty evident that the Blues are now looking for a new player in Werner and signing him would be a great chance for the club to take a new step in the right direction.
