Liam Rosenior is expected to be replaced as Chelsea manager by two former Chelsea players. After less than four months, Rosenior was fired on Wednesday after leading the Blues to seven losses in their previous eight games, the most recent of which took place against Brighton on Tuesday night.

Rosenior feels depressed because Chelsea has lost five straight league games without scoring a goal for the first time since the Titanic crashed in 1912. Rosenior was hoped to escape being fired until at least Sunday, when Chelsea will play Leeds at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals. However, he has been stripped of his duties and will not be in command at Wembley.

However, the front-runners to succeed him are two former Chelsea players. Filipe Luis won the Premier League and League Cup during his one season at Stamford Bridge, when he was signed during Jose Mourinho’s second stint as manager. He then returned to Atletico Madrid.

Next Chelsea manager odds as Cesc Fabregas among former players

While Luis just left Brazilian team Flamengo after winning seven trophies while in command, Fabregas is presently in charge of the Italian team Como. Prior to Rosenior’s dismissal, Chelsea was thinking about backup plans in case things didn’t get better.

Chelsea is eager to give Rosenior a full preseason to implement his ideas, according to a Tuesday report from Football Insider. But that strategy was derailed by the devastating defeat at Brighton. The Blues were compelled to fire Enzo Maresca against their will back in January, so the 41-year-old took over in the middle of the season.

However, they have already made it obvious that they intend to move on, and they are keeping an eye on both Fabregas and Luis. Even though he is just in his second season as senior manager, the former has already put Como in a close race to perhaps qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history.

In the meanwhile, Luis had a fantastic time leading Flamengo, but he was unexpectedly fired at the beginning of March, leaving him jobless. Both are seen as young, promising managers who are prepared to take on the Premier League’s challenge and, if necessary, bring the supporters together.
