Chelsea FC Goalkeeping records information
The Blues awards a clean sheet to the starting goalkeeper when the team does not concede in the complete match. Substitute goalkeepers were introduced in 1992 and on 14 occasions have shared a clean sheet. They are Carlo Cudicini 5, Henrique Hilario 2, Kevin Hitchcock 2, Ross Turnbull 2, Petr Cech 1, Ed de Goey 1, Lenny Pidgeley 1, Mark Schwarzer 1.
Prior to the 1992/93 season outfield players acted as emergency keepers in the event of an injury or dismissal. John Terry played as an emergency keeper following Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini both being knock unconscious against Reading in October 2006. Two other outfield players, Reg Williams in 1949 and David Webb in 1972 shared a clean sheet when replacing an injured keeper.

Two outfield players have played the whole game in goal.
David Webb played at home to Ipswich on Dec 27, 1971. Peter Bonetti and John Phillips were both ruled out through injury and Steve Sherwood missed his debut by a matter of minutes due to fog after a desperate dash by road from Selby, Yorkshire, where he had gone to spend Christmas at home. Webb kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win.
Bob Mackie also kept a clean sheet on Oct 28, 1905. Chelsea beat Southern Utd 1-0 away in the FA Cup.
John Terry once played a portion of a game as goalkeeper After a serious head injury to Petr Cech, Carlo Cudicini came on. But he also got injured shorty after. So John Terry had to don the goalkeeper gloves to see out the rest of the match against Reading. Terry was actually quite good and made a couple of saves.
