Chelsea are amongst the clubs interested in Barcelona’s Gavi amid the uncertainty surrounding his future

The 17-year-old midfielder had a tremendous debut season with the Blaugrana, scoring twice and assisting three times in 27 appearances across all competitions.

Gavi’s abilities have already won him a spot on the Spanish national squad. Under manager Luis Enrique, he has already gained four caps, all from the starting XI.

As a result, it’s no wonder that he’s drawing a lot of attention from large clubs. His current contract with Barcelona runs out in June 2023. So yet, little movement has been made on a renewal.

Liverpool and Chelsea, are keeping a careful eye on the situation. Gavi’s deal with the Catalan giants includes a release clause of €50 million (£42 million).

He has just five goals to show for his efforts, but the Blaugrana clearly value him since he is comfortable with the ball at his feet at such a young age.

In La Liga, the Spaniard has completed 89% of his passes. He has also made a defensive contribution, averaging one tackle and nearly one interception per game.

It remains to be seen whether the Blaugrana can reach an agreement in contract discussions in the coming months, or whether they will be obliged to sell his services to the Blues this summer.
