Chelsea vs West Ham Prediction, Betting Tips, Odds & Preview

Chelsea have placed West Ham United left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf firmly on their radar as they look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the summer transfer window.

West Ham Face Battle to Keep Diouf Amid Chelsea Interest

The 21-year-old Senegal international only arrived at the London Stadium last summer, joining from Slavia Prague in a deal worth £19m.

Despite West Ham’s struggles this season, Diouf has emerged as one of the few bright sparks in an otherwise difficult campaign.

The full-back has made 23 Premier League appearances for the Hammers, starting 21 of those matches.

He has provided five assists so far, catching the eye with consistent performances against top-flight opposition.

Diouf delivered standout displays in the goalless draw with Bournemouth and the 2-0 win over Burnley, while also registering an assist during the 5-2 defeat at Anfield against Liverpool.

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea view the defender as an ideal candidate to provide competition for Marc Cucurella at left-back.

The Blues continue to focus their recruitment strategy on signing young players with strong resale value, and Diouf fits that profile perfectly.

West Ham currently sit 18th in the Premier League table, level on points with Nottingham Forest and just one point behind Tottenham.

While the team has shown improvement recently—losing only once in their last five league matches—the threat of relegation remains very real.

Should the Hammers drop into the Championship, keeping hold of key players like Diouf would become extremely difficult.

Chelsea could capitalize on that situation, with the defender currently valued at approximately £24m.

The Blues may also have an advantage in negotiations due to their connection with West Ham through Axel Disasi.

The French defender joined the Hammers on loan from Chelsea in January and has played an important role in their recent resurgence.

Reports suggest Chelsea could offer Disasi on a permanent basis as part of any deal for Diouf.

While West Ham would understandably be reluctant to lose a player they signed just a year ago, a significant offer from Stamford Bridge may prove too tempting to reject—regardless of which division they find themselves in next season.
