Chelsea Drop Out Of Race For Osimhen, Timo Werner Still A Possibility

Chelsea were thought to have found their ideal centre-forward in Lille’s Victor Osimhen.

Pegged to a replacement for Didier Drogba, the 21-year-old was certainly drawing up a lot of chatter from the West London end.

French news outlets claimed that the Blues had even submitted a £75m bid for him which Football.london unravelled to be not true. Chelsea are hardly expected to fork out that amount of cash for a striker expected to be a backup to Tammy Abraham.

Plenty of clubs are chasing after Osimhen and he could very well raise that amount. Lille managed to sell Nicolas Pepe to Arsenal for £72m last summer and the Ivory Coast international had just one great season under his belt. If the price tag were to dissuade Chelsea, who can they sign?

Fresh reports claim that Frank Lampard is still keeping his eye on Timo Werner. Liverpool are reportedly the front-runners in the race for RB Leipzig’s lethal scoring machine. He has a release clause worth up to £52m in his current deal which is more than fair in the current market conditions. His 27-goal record in 36 games this season shows just how dangerous he has become in the opposition half. Werner’s prolific scoring ability paired with his versatility and lighting quick pace makes him an ideal figure to improve Chelsea’s attacking lineup.
