Chelsea defender Thiago Silva wants to move to Brazil

Thiago Silva has been linked with potential exit amid Fluminense return.

The veteran defender started his professional career at Fluminese but left before making a senior appearance to join Dynamo Moscow.

It is believed that Thiago wants to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer and Chelsea would not stand in his way.

Although he penned a new deal in February with the Blues and is contracted until the summer of 2024, Silva is having second thoughts about Chelsea and wants to return to his boyhood club.

His desire to leave is hugely motivated by Chelsea’s poor form in the 2022/23 campaign.

Silva is also enticed by the possibility of playing alongside Real Madrid legend Marcelo who recently joined Fluminese.

But it would be a huge blow for Chelsea if the former PSG defender decides to leave this summer.

“Thiago is a credit in all aspects,” Lampard said.

“He’s a classy, brilliant player. His career says it. He’s also brilliant at looking after himself to play at this level. He’s 38. I was in the MLS by that point. Especially as a centre-back, to play in the Premier League, what he must be doing with his body.”
