James’ hamstring injury has not healed as quickly as anticipated.
Chelsea defender Reece James is not expected to return from injury. The Blues skipper was part of Chelsea’s squad for the pre-season tour and featured more than an hour.
The right-back was not part of the pre-season game against Inter Milan on August 11 as he suffered another hamstring injury. He was suspended for the first three games in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old would be in a position to return after the international break but he will take more time to recover. Enzo Maresca revealed before Bournemouth game that James would require more time to come back into contention.

As per reports of the Sun, James’ hamstring injury has not healed as quickly as anticipated. Chelsea’s medical staff have no intention of providing the green light for a return to action.
The Englishman may return to the squad next month before the international break. Malo Gusto has earned the right-back shirt when fit through his performances in James’ absence but he was unavailable last week due to a thigh issue.
