Levi Colwill eyeing Bayern Munich move amid Chelsea uncertainty
Levi Colwill, Chelsea’s young star, is considering a move to Bayern Munich this summer. After a breakout loan spell at Brighton during the 2022-23 season, the young defender returned to Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino, although his progress was impeded by injuries.
After starting in Chelsea’s first ten Premier League games last season, Colwill’s future at Stamford Bridge is now unknown. With new Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca in charge, the club is keen to keep its prized asset, but Bayern Munich’s interest may complicate matters.
According to the Daily Mail, Bayern, under recently appointed manager Vincent Kompany, have high hopes for Colwill’s defensive abilities.
Sky Sports Germany adds that Colwill is open to the idea of joining Bayern, where he would link up with fellow Englishmen Harry Kane and Eric Dier. The allure of playing under Kompany, a defensive legend from his Manchester City days, might be a significant factor in Colwill’s consideration.
Chelsea, however, are not prepared to let the 21-year-old leave without a fight. Colwill’s current contract extends for another five years, with an additional optional year, making him a valuable long-term asset for the Blues.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are in the midst of a squad overhaul, with several senior players, including Matthijs De Ligt, Joshua Kimmich, and Kingsley Coman, reportedly available for transfer. Kompany aims to build a younger, more dynamic team capable of reclaiming Bundesliga dominance.
As the summer transfer window heats up, all eyes will be on Colwill’s decision, which could significantly impact both Chelsea’s defensive lineup and Bayern’s rebuilding efforts.
For now, the young defender’s future hangs in the balance, with fans eagerly awaiting the next move in this unfolding transfer saga.
