The days of Chelsea and Alvaro Morata are officially over. At least for the upcoming 2019-20 season.

Alvaro Morata joined Chelsea in the summer of 2017 for a club record fee at that time but failed to deliver in his one and a half seasons at West London. He scored a little over 25 goals in just over 70 matches but neither the club nor the player were happy with the situation.

Earlier in January this year, the player was granted his wish to leave on loan and join his boyhood club Atletico Madrid. Morata jumped at the chance to go back home and for a moment it seemed the idea of heading home would propel the number nine to deliver the goods.

Atletico after all are known for their firepower stacked front-line, specially over the last decade with the like of Kun Aguero, Diego Forlan, Falcao, Diego Costa and Antoine Griezmann, all setting Europe on fire. However, his first six months have been relatively quiet and media reports claimed that Morata could be sent back to Stamford Bridge as Atletico Madrid were not keen on forging out more money for him.

However, Morata for his part came out and publicly expressed his desire to stay at Madrid and it now seems his prayers has been answered as the  Los Rojiblancos have revealed their jerseys for the upcoming season with Alvaro featuring in the post.

Chelsea will definitely not be taking Morata back then for the 2019-20 season. So who will lead the line at Stamford Bridge now given Higuain is unlikely to stay beyond this summer?
