Reports from Italy claim that Willian could be on his way out of Chelsea due to a disagreement over a contract extension.
The 31-year-old winger arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2013 and has made close to 300 appearances for the club. His current deal is set to run till June 2020.
Despite entering the latter stages of his playing career, Willian continues to win majority of playing time under Maurizio Sarri. The Brazilian is preferred over the younger and more exciting prospect, Callum Hudson-Odoi and even over Pedro sometimes.
He has demanded for a contract till the end of 2023 but Chelsea are willing to offer him only a 2-year deal. This could potentially see Willian head for the exit door this summer in search of more guaranteed pay from other clubs.
Capped 64 times for Brazil, the former Shakhtar Donetsk player still has the athletic abilities to represent his country at the very top level. Paris Saint-Germain even expressed interest in the South American during the January transfer window.
With the Blues currently undergoing 2-year ban from purchasing any players, Willian’s departure could serve as a massive blow for the near future. It has come to be known as inevitable that Eden Hazard will leave the South West London side after this campaign.
If Sarri lost another one of his starting wingers that could prove to be extremely harmful for the upcoming season.
