Chelsea were asking for around £50m for Conor Gallagher.

Chelsea are reportedly planning to avoid selling their key player ahead of the summer transfer window. Conor Gallagher is likely to stay amid interest from Premier League clubs Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Englishman was one of the key assets for Chelsea in pursuit of European qualification. The 24-year-old scored seven goals and provided nine assists in 50 games across all competitions.

Chelsea suffered injury setback as Reece James and Ben Chilwell missed at various points of the season. Gallagher also donned the captain’s armband on several occasions throughout the season.

Chelsea were asking for around £50m for him as they were having offers from Spurs, Villa and Atletico Madrid. However, the decision to sell Gallagher this summer was due to club’s need to raise funds.

As per the reports of the Guardian, the rumours of a possible contract extension for the Blues midfielder now potentially on the cards. They also held informal talks with Villa over the possibility of a swap deal involving Jhon Duran.

Wgile talking with the BBC on Thursday, Gallagher said that he is only “focusing on England” at this time. He said, “I’m a Chelsea player right now and I’m just thinking about England and the tournament.

“It’s not difficult. I’m away with England and I couldn’t be happier with the position I’m in. I’ve just been focusing on England. This is the most important thing right now for me and the country.”
