Chelsea are considering using unsettled forward Joao Felix as part of a deal to sign Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran, according to reports.

Chelsea weigh up Joao Felix swap deal to land Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran

Felix, who arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer in a £45m move from Atletico Madrid, has endured a frustrating spell with the Blues.

Despite flashes of brilliance, the Portugal international has struggled for regular game time under Enzo Maresca, with competition from the likes of Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, Pedro Neto, and Jadon Sancho limiting his opportunities.

Now, with Felix open to a move away from Chelsea before the January transfer window slams shut, Aston Villa have emerged as a potential destination.

Manager Unai Emery is a long-time admirer of Felix and reportedly attempted to sign him before Chelsea secured his services.

Villa’s interest could pave the way for an intriguing swap deal involving Duran, who has also been linked with Arsenal and West Ham this month.

Duran, 20, has found himself playing second fiddle to Ollie Watkins at Villa Park, making only a handful of starts this season.

With both Arsenal and West Ham eyeing the young Colombian, Chelsea are now weighing up a move to bolster their striking options following a tough spell in front of goal.

Nicolas Jackson, the club’s current first-choice striker, has endured a seven-game goal drought, raising concerns over his effectiveness in leading the line.

West Ham had a £57m bid for Duran rejected, but Chelsea’s potential inclusion of Felix in negotiations could sway Villa’s stance.

However, Emery has remained firm on his position, recently stating,

“Jhon Duran is our player, and I am happy with him. I want him here with us.”

With the transfer deadline fast approaching, Chelsea must decide whether to push forward with their pursuit of Duran or explore alternative options to solve their attacking woes.

One thing is certain—the coming days could be decisive in shaping the Blues’ second half of the season.
