Chelsea Come To Know Of Asking Price For Ryan Gosens

Chelsea have been told to cough up €25-30 million if they want to get their hands on Ryan Gosens.

Atalanta are aware of the widespread interest in their leading defender and wants to be fairly remunerated for him.

Inter Milan, Napoli, Borussia Dortmund and Leicester City are all keeping track of Gosens ahead of the summer transfer window. Chelsea’s interest in him rises from their immediate need for a competent left-back.

Frank Lampard has given up on both Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri, dropping them both for an orthodox Cezar Azpilicueta prior to the coronavirus lockdown. Leicester view Gosens as Ben Chilwell’s replacement who is also tipped to end up at Stamford Bridge. It could end up being a question of either or between the two with one’s fate lying on the other.

Gosens, although has formerly admitted that he dreams of playing in the Bundesliga, especially for Dortmund’s rivals, FC Schalke. The fullback has been a major part of Atalanta’s good fortunes this season, scoring 8 and providing 5 assists in 30 appearances from the left flank.

Is he the right fit at Chelsea? It is difficult to judge but all the early indicators say no. Gosens is not necessarily a defensive force but more of an offensive facilitator. He enjoys the freedom to run ahead on overlaps but that makes him a similar profile to that of Emerson and Marcos Alonso. Chelsea fans might still be hoping for the transfer of Ben Chilwell over Gosens since he is a Premier League-proven talent. But the Foxes defender could cost upwards of £50m.
