Chelsea have almost finalised the deal for Basel youngster Renato Veiga. They appointed a new manager last month and Enzo Maresca is now planning to crack few deals during the summer transfer window.
The Italian manager wants such a player who can play in more positions so he can try out the best versions. He can make the most out of his squad.
As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the West London club are closing in on the acquisition of Veiga on a long-term contract. He admits that the Blues are prepared to pay €14m in order to get a deal over the line for the 20-year-old.

Basel young gun is already said to have agreed personal terms with Chelsea and has left Basel’s training camp to finalise the transfer. He would depart the Primeira Liga side without making a single first-team appearance.
He made the loan switch to Augsburg in the second half of the 2022-23 season. He made a total of seven starts and six substitute outings in the German top-flight. The Portugal Under-21 international made a permanent move to Basel in a deal allegedly worth €4.6m.
He has played as a centre-back and defensive midfielder during his career. Chelsea boss Maresca also views him as someone who can be used as a left-back.
Ben Chilwell might be sold by Chelsea in the summer and Trevoh Chalobah could also depart Stamford Bridge at some point. Veiga could be a contender to provide backup in each of their positions.
