Chelsea finally ready to cede ground to ace defender’s salary demands

Chelsea has finally decided to offer Antonio Rudiger a new deal that is close to his pay expectations. As the summer transfer window approaches, Thomas Tuchel will breathe a sigh of relief.

Rudiger’s current deal at Stamford Bridge expires in less than six months, which has sparked concern among fans. Since Tuchel came over as manager from Frank Lampard, he has undoubtedly been our finest defender. Furthermore, his imposing presence on the backline has aided us in achieving victory in such a short period of time.

The German defender demands a weekly wage of roughly £200,000, which has been a source of conflict for some time. The Blues appear to have finally realised that they need to provide a deal that is more in line with the demands of the centre-back.

Tuchel’s continuous reliance on his services would be reason enough to support such viewpoint. After all, the manager has demoted Andreas Christensen, who is in the same situation as Rudiger, to the bench in order to push him to extend his contract.

This demonstrates that the Blues boss cannot afford to bench Rudiger like they did Christensen.

Cesar Azpilicueta is also expected to leave the club during the summer transfer window. With three centre-backs likely going at the end of the season, it emphasises the necessity of resolving the issue as quickly as possible. It remains to be seen if Rudiger will help to defend our interests by renewing his contract.
