Graeme Souness Warned Liverpool About Resurgent Chelsea

Chelsea may try to follow the same model as Liverpool star Harvey Elliott after a young English talent was deprived of playing time at a prominent Premier League team.

Elliott’s career at Liverpool may come to an end with the recent signing of Florian Wirtz, as his already meager playing time would probably be further cut if he stays at Anfield.

Elliott played just 28 games for Liverpool last season, totaling 822 minutes, much like Palmer did in his last season at City. A fractured foot hampered his prospects of making an early impression on Arne Slot, but Elliott has never felt so close to leaving Liverpool now that Wirtz, who cost £116 million, has joined the Reds’ attack.

Elliott is sure to have plenty of suitors this summer given his skill set and age profile, while Brighton has already been mentioned as a possible destination. Chelsea could do far worse than trying to sign the former Fulham star, though, as the capital club is in dire need of a dynamic attacker after Jadon Sancho returned to Manchester United.

Harvey Elliot’s next club odds

Due to his exceptional football abilities, Harvey Elliot would be a first-team regular at the majority of Premier League clubs. Regretfully, Liverpool doesn’t seem to be among them. Being a starter at Anfield is extremely difficult, and the 22-year-old is ready to depart during the current transfer window in search of new challenges.

Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Brighton, and Borussia Dortmund are reportedly in the running to recruit the former Fulham star after Nottingham Forest made an attempt to get him, but he turned down the opportunity to transfer to the City Ground.

Earlier this month, Elliot stated, “It’s just a circumstance that I and the team have to have a conversation about since I’m going to be 23 next season and I’m approaching the age of 22 now.

“Since my career is brief, I don’t really want to waste years on it. You have no idea what will occur. I must think. And Chelsea could be able to take advantage of that and provide him what Liverpool is unable to provide.
