Chelsea are reportedly showing interest in Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who could be available on a free transfer when his contract expires in 2026.
Blues Targeting Elite Striker Vlahovic on a Free Transfer
The Serbian international, widely regarded as one of Europe’s top forwards, is entering the final year of his deal with the Italian giants.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Vlahovic’s current plan is to see out his contract and leave Juventus next summer without a transfer fee, a move that would allow him to secure the most lucrative personal terms possible.
Chelsea’s pursuit of a new centre-forward comes despite summer signings Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.
The situation has been further complicated by Marc Guiu’s absence from manager Enzo Maresca’s plans, highlighting a potential need for further reinforcement in the attacking department.
Vlahovic presents an attractive option. The 25-year-old has demonstrated his quality in Serie A, earning the Serie A Best Young Player award in 2021 after a 21-goal league season with Fiorentina.
His market value is significant, with Juventus having signed him for a reported €70 million in January 2022.
Chelsea can expect stiff competition for Vlahovic’s signature. Reports indicate that Bayern Munich are also gathering information about the player as a potential long-term attacking option.
Premier League rivals Manchester United are also cited as a club with significant interest in the striker.
For Juventus, the ideal scenario would be to avoid losing Vlahovic for nothing. The club is reportedly willing to consider offers in the range of €15-20 million in January to recoup some of their initial investment.
However, the player’s preference is believed to be staying until the summer and then departing on a free transfer, which puts Juventus in a difficult financial position.
Vlahovic has started the current season in strong form, scoring four goals in his first five appearances, which has only increased his appeal to potential suitors.
If a move materializes, Chelsea would be acquiring a proven goalscorer. During his time with Fiorentina, Vlahovic finished the 2021 calendar year with 33 Serie A goals, a tally unmatched in the league since 1951.
His former manager, Cesare Prandelli, has called him “one of the best strikers in Europe”.
