Chelsea’s obsession for Declan Rice is not about to end anytime soon as reports indicate a move is still in their plans.
West Ham United are still holding him at a price of £80m with no intention of letting him walk this January.
Frank Lampard was handed a massive treasure chest last summer of over £200m in player investments. Almost all of his signings are first-team regulars with further signings expected soon.
Despite the heavy spending ahead of 2020/21 season, Chelsea chief, Marina Granovskaia is tipped to sanction a deal for Rice. The player is 21 now, has plenty of promise and one who is expected to thrive in Lampard’s system.
But the Blues boss himself is unsure about holding his job. After collecting just one win in five Premier League games, Chelsea sit ninth in the table and three points away from a top-four spot.
Any future with Lampard has come in serious doubt and he will only stay on as Chelsea boss if results improve. Rice’s hopes of moving to West London will also depend on Lampard remaining at the Chelsea job or not.
The Blues go up against Fulham next in the league which will be a good opportunities to turn their fortunes around.
