Romelu Lukaku still has two years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is set to return to Cobham Training Centre to start his preparations for the new season. Lukaku’s future is uncertain at Chelsea and the Blues are not getting a solid buyer.
The 31-year-old was re-signed by the club in the summer of 2021 in a club-record transfer worth £97.5m. He struggled to break into Thomas Tuchel’s side in 2022. Even Pochettino didn’t consider him.
The Belgium international still has two years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge. Lukaku has spent the last two seasons on loan in Serie A with Inter Milan and Roma.
He had an excellent season in 2023-24, scoring 13 goals and providing three assists in 32 league appearances. He managed to record a total of 7 goals and an assist in 13 Europa League games.
The former Man United star is back at Stamford Bridge. He has played the last two seasons in Italy but didn’t get a permanent contract from many clubs.
As per Daily Mail, Lukaku is set to return to Chelsea training ground in the coming days. He will recommence training at Cobham. Most of the Chelsea squad are currently in the USA for their pre-season tour.
As per Sky Sports Italy, Lukaku’s time at Chelsea is close to coming to an end. Meanwhile, he is heavily linked with Napoli for a permanent move. Chelsea are asking for £30m plus add-ons for the Belgian international. He could be a best replacement for Osimhen.
