Julian Alvarez, a striker for Atletico Madrid, is a target for Chelsea, who are considering further reinforcements as their previous striker acquisitions have not produced the expected results. While Alvarez was a backup to Erling Haaland at Manchester City, he made a name for himself by scoring 36 goals in two seasons at the Etihad.

However, he kept demonstrating his abilities, which attracted adoring looks from other places. In 2024, he moved to La Liga. Alvarez has apparently been on Liverpool’s radar, according to reports in Spain, while Chelsea is also interested in him. It is also said that the player is not opposed to returning to the Premier League.

He had great success in England, winning the FA Cup and the Champions League in addition to two crowns. Although Atletico has not yet expressed a willingness to sell Alvarez, it is believed that a summer transfer is feasible if potential buyers are willing to spend £87 million, which would essentially enable the Spanish team to recover a little more than their initial investment.

Chelsea lodge £74m offer for ex-Man City forward

Liam Rosenior’s team appears to need a new goalkeeper, at least one new centre defender, and a goal-scoring striker in order to contend for the top spot in the Premier League. There have already been suggestions that they would add a new centre back, with Jeremy Jacquet of Rennes having a deal to join Chelsea.

Additionally, Hooligan Soccer claims that Chelsea has made an offer of $100 million (£74 million) for former Man City striker Alvarez. However, according to the Spanish newspaper Fichajes, Bayern Munich is willing to make “a possible offer close to €130m (£113m), an amount difficult to ignore”; thus, the Bundesliga powerhouses might steal a deal from Chelsea.

In contrast to Hooligan Soccer, the Spanish report maintains that Atletico does not wish to sell him and adds, “The club is not considering his departure. Not in the near future, not right now. The plan is to focus their attack on him in the future.
