Chelsea is considering a deal for PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in preparation for their forthcoming matchup in the Club World Cup final. Next summer, the Italian goalie’s contract expires, and several teams are vying for a possible low-cost move.

After Sunday’s Club World Cup final, the Blues, one such team, are hoping to sign the 26-year-old, according to L’Equipe. Despite postponing his decision until after Sunday’s final, Donnarumma is thought to want to remain in Paris and extend his contract.

As the total prize money for that game approaches £100 million, Chelsea will want to give it their all in their tryout for the keeper. Manchester United, Manchester City, and other English teams may also compete with Chelsea for his services.

It is not surprising that English clubs are aware of his abilities given that, during PSG’s run to the championship, his Champions League exploits eliminated both Liverpool and Arsenal from the competition.

Chelsea interested in signing Gianluigi Donnarumma

Since they were unable to sign Mike Maignan earlier in the summer, one of Enzo Maresca’s team’s top priorities is to get a new goalkeeper. The AC Milan goalie is still a target for them, but they may turn their focus to another possible market opportunity.

As the Italian star approaches the last year of his contract with PSG, Gianluigi Donnarumma is the most recent name on their list. Although a decision regarding his future is scheduled, Chelsea and other teams are keeping a close eye on the 26-year-old UCL winner. There is no sign that he will be leaving anytime soon.

Robert Sanchez is among the goalkeepers Chelsea plans to let go, and Djorde Petrovic has committed to a long-term contract with Bournemouth. Other suitors have expressed interest in Donnarumma, including Manchester City, who may still be able to sign him if there are issues with a probable PSG renewal.
