The Blues will need to put in a lot of effort to stop the Nigerian striker from making what many now consider to be his most likely next move, but Chelsea has reportedly set up a crucial new meeting with Victor Osimhen’s representatives as they attempt to finally sign the Napoli forward.
When Osimhen’s decision to leave Napoli became apparent last summer, Chelsea had discussions with him and his team. Due to his exclusion from Napoli’s Serie A team, the Nigerian found himself in a precarious position after failing to negotiate a move to Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, or Saudi Arabia.
After being saved by Galatasaray, who signed him on a season-long loan, Osimhen has since scored 33 goals in 38 games. Social media is being used by Galatasaray supporters to campaign for Osimhen to stay, even if it doesn’t seem realistic.
The deadly goal scorer is back in the running for Chelsea, who are “chasing a deal” to bring him to the Premier League, according to Football Transfers.
Chelsea to open crunch talks with Osimhen’s reps this week
However, according to BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella, the Blues intend to sign a new striker following the season and will probably be active in the transfer market to find a worthy replacement for Nicolas Jackson.
According to insiders, Osimhen, 26, is not anticipated to reduce his salary demands; at his next club, he may demand up to £400,000 a week. It is expected that he will depart Napoli this summer because his contract is set to expire in June 2026, a little over a year from now.
Additionally, Juventus is putting up a plan to capture the Nigerian striker, giving Serie A rivals Napoli a package for €85 million. However, only clubs outside of Italy are eligible for the €75 million release clause in his contract.
Chelsea needs to make this adjustment this summer if they want to start winning. Maresca’s remark that Guiu would have been a lot better fit for Chelsea simply does not sit well with anyone and only serves to highlight how unfit the team was to begin with.
