Attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace has made the decision to leave the team in the summer after being linked to a move at the end of the current campaign.

 In search of a fresh challenge, the 26-year-old intends to sign with a major club come summertime. Chelsea wants to sign him, and according to a source from Fichajes, they are putting together an offer of about £70 million to complete the transaction.

In addition to scoring the game-winning goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester City, the 26-year-old has been superb for Crystal Palace this season. The way the England International performed will make Crystal Palace very happy, given it was their first big title ever.

For the player, the chance to join Chelsea will be quite thrilling. He would be able to fight for awards and compete at a high level alongside them. One of the largest clubs in the world, Chelsea is vying for a spot in the winners’ league.

Chelsea lined up £70m bid for Eberechi Eze

According to Spanish publication Fichajes, Chelsea will compete against Manchester City for the Englishman’s services before the 2025–2026 campaign begins. Eze’s current contract at Palace has an €80 million release clause, according to a Daily Mail article from last year. However, according to Fichajes, the current rate is significantly lower at €70 million.

During the 2025 summer transfer window, Chelsea and Man City are both interested in exercising this release clause since they believe Eze can have an immediate impact.

The England international has made 41 appearances this season across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and dishing out 11 assists, including the game-winning goal during Saturday’s 1-0 FA Cup final triumph over Man City for Crystal Palace.

Eze is keen to leave Selhurst Park this summer in order to “take a leap forward in his career,” according to Fichajes, even though his current deal is set to end in 2027.
