As Enzo Maresca attempts to reduce his massive squad, Chelsea will once again attempt to shed unwanted players during the January transfer window. Numerous gifted young players are frequently acquired by the Blues before being loaned out. The head coach wants to operate with a smaller team, although they have shown signs of modifying their ways since they hired Maresca from Leicester in the summer.
Maresca has reduced the number of players in order to focus on his core group, leaving many without a job and in need of a transfer in the coming year. In his second transfer window as manager, he will gladly permit the departure of peripheral players, continuing to garner attention for his harsh disciplinary tactics. BBC Sport reports that at least five players were made available for loan or trade in January. The player at the top of that list is Ben Chilwell, whom Chelsea is still desperately trying to trade after failing to do so during the summer transfer window.
Exits for five players to come in January with £40m offer demand
The Blues are demanding Chukwuemeka’s full £40million release clause for his January exit—or could look to send him out on loan instead. Casadei, 21, is a different case with Chelsea not actively seeking to sell the Italian midfielder, with a loan move looking more likely. Feyenoord and Monza are both interested in signing the Italy Under-21s international. With less than half of his current contract remaining, Harvey Vale is expected to depart the team permanently. The 21-year-old forward is attracting interest from Championship and European clubs.
Any agreement will probably only fetch a little price, and a sell-on clause will probably be added so that money can be made later. At the beginning of the January transfer window, Chelsea is not actively attempting to loan or sell any more first-team players, including teenage sensations Omari Kellyman and Marc Guiu. Alex Matos may possibly depart on a permanent basis.
