Chelsea is ahead of Arsenal in the competition to sign Ousmane Diomande, according to CaughtOffside. The player would want to move to the Premier League, but it appears that Bayern Munich is also in the running. After moving from Midtjylland to Sporting CP in 2023, Diomande has made a name for himself as a mainstay in the Portuguese team’s first squad. After Ruben Amorim moved to Old Trafford in November of last year, he was briefly linked to a move to Manchester United. The 21-year-old has played in 25 games this season, but the Red Devils have not yet made a move for him. Rather, the London pair is currently engaged in a struggle for his services.

Chelsea want €80m-rated Ousmane Diomande

A defender of Diomande’s caliber would seem to be most needed by the Blues out of the two London clubs. Axel Disasi of Chelsea is expected to be the sole central defender leaving the team this winter as three clubs are vying for his services. Yes, it has become commonplace for Stamford Bridge to be a merry-go-round during a transfer window. Diomande isn’t going to travel to North London to play second fiddle, and from Arsenal’s perspective, neither Gabriel nor William Saliba need to be replaced.

Arsenal will, however, compete with the Blues for the Ivorian signing. The Gunners’ center-back duo of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba is proven. According to recent speculations, the Frenchman may be in Real Madrid’s sights. In the event that Saliba leaves, Arsenal may resort to Diomande as a backup. Sporting CP might let the Ivorian go for €50–60 million, although his contract reportedly contains an €80 million release clause.
