In an effort to find a dependable goalie for the upcoming campaign, Chelsea is thinking about making a bid for Gregor Kobel of Borussia Dortmund. According to Foot Mercato, the London club is showing interest in the Swiss international as Enzo Maresca tries to address their goalkeeping issues.
Dortmund is open to talks this summer, and the 27-year-old might go if a good deal comes in. Kobel, who has been with Dortmund for four years, was a member of the squad that advanced to the Champions League final the previous season before falling to Real Madrid.
Both Filip Jorgensen and Robert Sanchez have alternated for Chelsea this season, although neither has been particularly strong. Supporters have blasted Sanchez for making expensive mistakes, and Jorgensen’s brief stint in goal was lacking in quality.
According to reports, Chelsea is looking to replace Robert Sanchez, their starting goalie, who has caused division among the supporters with some inconsistent performances this season.
Despite having already spent more than £1 billion on new players over the previous two seasons, the Blues are anticipated to be proactive during the summer transfer window once more.
Chelsea initiate contacts with agent of Gregor Kobel
Marcus Bettinelli, Lucas Bergström, Filip Jorgensen, and Robert Sanchez are now on Chelsea’s roster, but none of them have shown much promise. Chelsea must therefore go back to the market this summer in an attempt to get a player with experience and extraordinary talent.
Gregor Kobel of Borussia Dortmund was the subject of reports in France yesterday, and according to FootMercato, the 27-year-old is prepared to depart the German team as early as this summer. He is not alone. Kobel’s representative will be in London in the next few days to “continue discussions,” according to the report, and the Blues and Newcastle have “initiated contacts” with him.
In January, Dortmund acquired Diant Ramaj from Ajax in anticipation of losing their number one player. All things considered, we are certain that Kobel will depart Dortmund and that he would be a better option than Robert Sanchez. However, is he planning to visit Chelsea? We’re unsure.
